What is the first thing to grow in a greenhouse?
The most popular greenhouse vegetables in our country, in addition to greens (young onions, dill, parsley, lettuce), include cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes, peppers. Among the fruits - strawberries.
Ukrainians use fruits and vegetables to prepare various kinds of salads, fruit and vegetable cocktails. The latter have become very popular due to the presence of various household appliances on our kitchen table, and a blender. So those who have already understood the advantages of building their own greenhouse under cellular polycarbonate or greenhouse film, in the cold season continue the period of summer vegetable and fruit paradise for their family.
Why do we need fresh vegetables even in winter?
Today, few people doubt that plant foods are the most useful. This is especially true for fruits and vegetables, rich in vitamins and mineral salts. It is worth remembering that fruits and vegetables supply our body with such essential substances as calcium, iron, iodine, sodium, potassium, magnesium and many other important microelements.
It is also important to consider that plant-based products also contain such an irreplaceable substance as cellulose, or fiber. Without it, we cannot hope for good bowel function. And with poor functioning of the excretory organs, harmful substances accumulate in the body very quickly. By clogging the body, they make it weak, unable to resist harmful bacteria and various infections. Over time, the slags themselves become the cause of many diseases, turning, for example, into stones in the kidneys and other organs. So which vegetables, first of all, should you not deprive yourself and those you love and care about, even in winter?
Popular vegetables - what are their benefits?
What is the benefit of vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers and radishes? Read on to find out how healthy it is to eat these vegetables…
Tomatoes
This common product among our vegetables is considered one of the best. Not only modern medicine confirms its benefits. Tomatoes have long been an indispensable ingredient in the diet of yogis. Who, who, but they know what is good for the body, and what should be avoided. Tomato wins over many other vegetables, first of all, due to the fact that it contains useful acids - citric and a little oxalic. And they contain at least five important vitamins in large quantities. Since vitamins are partially destroyed during heat treatment, it is better to eat tomatoes raw.
Due to the magnesium and iron they contain, they have a beneficial effect on various organs, primarily the liver and kidneys. The presence of fiber in tomatoes helps remove toxic substances from the body, so doctors recommend tomatoes to those who suffer from constipation. Tomatoes not only help cleanse the intestines, but also improve the functioning of the cardiovascular system. Due to the content of lycopene, it is known as a good antioxidant, for which tomatoes are appreciated by those who suffer from diabetes. Tomatoes stimulate the immune system, which means they increase the body's resistance to various diseases, slow down the aging of the body, and reduce the likelihood of tumors.
Cucumbers
It is difficult to imagine a Ukrainian table without cucumbers. Needless to say, even a greenhouse cucumber, grown in ecological conditions in your own greenhouse, is healthier than a canned one. Due to the content of many valuable nutrients and medicinal substances, known for their antioxidant properties, it is useful as an anti-inflammatory and preventive anti-cancer agent. Cucumbers have become an indispensable product for those who want to cleanse the body and lose weight, because they have a low content of calories, carbohydrates, fats and cholesterol. Due to the high water content (95%), they replenish our body with the fluid it needs. Do not forget that cucumber peel is also useful. Unless, of course, it is stuffed with nitrates. There is a chance to avoid this, especially for those who grow their own products.
Radish
This vegetable has long ceased to please us only in the spring and summer. Thanks to greenhouses, it is now available throughout the year, since growing radishes is not a complicated process. The beneficial nutritional properties of this product are difficult to overestimate. Moreover, yogis even use radish leaves. Rich in niacin, minerals, primarily iron, magnesium, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, sodium, it also contains a sufficient amount of fiber and vitamins, especially group C. Due to the high content of ascorbic acid necessary for the body, radishes help prevent inflammatory diseases, strengthen the immune system, and stabilize mental activity.
Considering the body's great need for vitamin C, this vegetable can be considered indispensable. After all, a deficiency of ascorbic acid leads to frequent colds and various inflammatory diseases, especially of the mucous membrane (scurvy). And this is fraught with tooth loss and, as a consequence, poor digestion due to the inability to chew food properly. The feeling of a lack of vitality, rapid fatigue, melancholy and even depression, which become more frequent in cold, cloudy weather - all this (except for mental reasons) is largely a consequence of a lack of vitamin C in the body. And we find it both in fruits and in vegetables, especially in radishes.
Of course, these are not all the vegetables that modern doctors and representatives of ancient medicinal theories and practices recommend eating. Greens are also frequently used by the body: lettuce, spinach, dill, parsley... But more about them later.
