An oval raised bed is a tall raised bed designed for a garden plot without sharp corners that could snag a hose or lawn mower. Three sizes: 160 x 90, 200 x 100, and 250 x 100 cm; all have a side height of 40 cm. Planting area: 1.1 to 2 m²—a single 250-cm oval raised bed replaces a standard 2.5-meter-long raised bed, but it doesn’t require digging.

People choose an oval shape over a rectangular one for two reasons. It’s a good choice when the garden bed is in plain sight—along a path, in front of the house, or at the entrance to a greenhouse: the rounded edge blends into the landscape rather than looking like a box. And it’s safer for children: there are no corners at all.

What to plant in it

With a width of 90–100 cm, you can reach the middle from both sides, so this garden bed is suitable for anything planted in rows: strawberries in two rows, greens, carrots, beets, onions, and flowers.

What is it made of?

The sides are made of galvanized steel. The zinc coating resists rust from watering and does not require painting. There is no bottom: the garden bed is placed directly on the ground; simply cover the lawn underneath with cardboard to prevent the grass from growing through.
